Revive Her!

“Revive Her!”
As we reflect over the month that has been, we see things springing up all around us. The praises of March Gladness gave way to the celebration of Women’s History Month, and who can forget our daily walk through the book of Proverbs. It’s been a bustling season, restarting everything we missed during the pandemic.
Yet VFam, all of this activity had one thing in common. March reminded us to revive her! Her who, you may ask? Wisdom.
Proverbs repeatedly refers to wisdom as “her,” representing the gentle but strong attribute that keeps balance in the life of every believer – no matter who you are. She is there to guide us throughout our days, and is the quiet voice crying out in our souls.
Wisdom shouts in the streets. She cries out in the public square. She calls to the crowds along the main street, to those gathered in front of the city gate: “How long, you simpletons, will you insist on being simpleminded? How long will you mockers relish your mocking? How long will you fools hate knowledge? Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise.” ~ Proverbs 1:20-23
In this passage, we see wisdom as that sassy, courageous sister who tells us like it is…period. She has what we need to answer our dilemmas, if we only ask.
  • Wisdom makes us pause and be glad despite life’s circumstances. (Proverbs 27:11-12)
  • Wisdom causes us to identify and honor women of virtue. (Proverbs 31:10, 26)
  • Wisdom prompts us to seek God’s direction for our daily lives. (Proverbs 1:1-7)
Wisdom offers all of this and more, right at our fingertips, if we only revive her position in our lives. Rather than leaning on our own understanding and using God’s plan as our backup plan, we need to put “her” first.
We all have seen the results of ignoring godly wisdom. Politics get out of wack and before we know it, folks are storming the nation’s Capitol. We ignore the repercussions of careless gun laws and find ourselves witnessing yet another fatal school shooting, only this time, at a Christian private school in Nashville, Tennessee.
Then many of us don’t have to walk outside our homes to see where we’ve missed wisdom. Families are facing everything from relationship woes to mismanaging money in the midst of inflation. However, rather than seeking godly wisdom, we continue our toxic cycles of family drama and debilitating debt.
Wisdom reminds us:
“I called you so often, but you wouldn’t come. I reached out to you, but you paid no attention. You ignored my advice and rejected the correction I offered.” ~ Proverbs 1:24-25
It’s time to revive the role of wisdom. March Gladness was never meant to be just a 31-day thing. It was meant to jump start us to pursue the tools needed to maintain joy in our lives, for the rest of our lives. Let’s revive the tool of wisdom. Let’s work her principles and see her results. She is available to all who seek her, and is eager to lend a helping hand. (James 1:5)
